Yin He Dance offers a variety of adult classes including Chinese classical, Chinese folk, and kpop. All classes are taught by experienced instructors. Our studio is rooted in Chicago's Chinese American community and offers classes that reflect  our heritage and diversity.

Class Descriptions

Ballet
In this introductory course, students are introduced to barre-work and ballet vocabulary through structured exercises design to develop strength, flexibility, and musicality.  Students will learn body alignment and muscle control.

Chinese Classical Dance
Both delicate and strong, classical Chinese dance features intricate gestures, circular motions, and use of breathe stemming from  Chinese movement traditions such as ancient court dance, tai chi, Chinese opera as well as ballet. Class begins with barre warm-up and end with a short movement combination in center.

Chinese Folkloric Dance
Learn to dance with silk fans, drums, and even bowls and spoons! In China, there are 56 official indigenous ethnic groups each with their own form of dance. Many also vary from region to region. Folk dance from China's temperate southern provinces differ greatly to those found in China's predominantly Muslim west and chilly north.

Contemporary
Rooted in a thoroughly modern understanding of anatomy and physiology, contemporary incorporates movement from all dance styles for a dance form that reflects the modern day. Contemporary is an expressive, free form of dance unrestricted by rules that govern other dance styles.

Hip Hop
One of the most popular forms of dance today, hip hop can be found everywhere on stage or screen. Dance to the latest hits in this high-energy class that's sure to have you moving and grooving like a popstar.

KPOP
Kpop is similar to hip hop, but influenced by culture and trends in east Asia. Learn the latest dances from popular mvs by some of the biggest Korean popstars such as Blackpink or BTS.

Latin Ballroom
Learn how to Cha Cha, Samba, and more in this class which focusses Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, and Samba

Strengthen and Lengthen
Stretch and Strength is a fitness class which incorporates elements of yoga, pilates, and other forms of exercise to lengthen and strengthen the body.

Yoga
Whether you're looking for spiritual enlightenment or just a stress-free workout, yoga provides a means for getting in touch with your body through a series of inter-connected movements meant to relax and rejuvenate you. Perfect for both dancers ans non-dancers alike.
